Graun

Graun is the highest hamlet of the wine village of Kurtatsch, situated on the western side of the South Tyrolean Lowlands [Südtiroler Unterland, Bassa Atesina]. The vineyards are situated between 700 and 940 meters above sea level, which ensures abundant sunshine and promotes photosynthesis of the vines ultimately contributing to the production of sugar and aroma compounds in the grapes.

Soil profile

The foundation for uniqueness

The soil profile is calcareous and clayey on dolomite rock. Calcareous soils are often associated with minerality and salinity in wines, while clay in the soil prevents erosion and contributes to aromatic intensity and longevity in the wine.
