Fennberg

Single vineyard part of the selection VIGNA and the highest Müller-Thurgau cultivation area in Europe at an altitude of 1,000 meters. The vineyard was established by Herbert Tiefenbrunner in 1972 on the Fennberg mountain [Favogna] which belongs to the municipality of Margreid [Magré]. Situated on a south-facing high plateau, the vineyard is well-protected from the north wind by the imposing rock ridge of the Rotwand.

Soil profile

The foundation for uniqueness

The soil depth varies from two meters in some places to only 40-50 cm in most areas. The middle layers are dominated by a loamy sand with red and white marble, as well as porphyry and granite boulders. In the deeper layers, there is dolomite and limestone.
