Tiefenbrunner as one of the pioneers of alpine viticulture
In the Jan/Feb 2016 issue of Vinum (“Gipfelstürmer”), our estate is presented as one of the pioneers of alpine viticulture. As early as 1972, Herbert Tiefenbrunner planted Müller-Thurgau at 1,000 m – a level that, at the time, was not compatible with Alto Adige DOC regulations, which allowed vineyards only up to 900 m. As a result, the Feldmarschall von Fenner Müller-Thurgau had to be labelled for decades as IGT Vigneti delle Dolomiti. Only after the revision of the production regulations in 2009 could it finally be recognized as Alto Adige DOC Müller-Thurgau, since then becoming an icon of alpine winemaking.
