The vineyard is located at an elevation of 1,935 – 2,066 feet overlooking Valle di Tires to the south of Aica di Fiè. The steep slope with its southern exposure provides protection from the northerlies.
The soil conditions: The topsoil comprises moderately silty sand with high salt levels and low humus content. A striking feature of the site is the presence of gray porphyry, which is unique to this area, The deeper soil horizons are dominated by sandy limestone rock flour that is a product of erosion of the porous dolomite rock.
The soil’s influence on the wine: The geology of the site gives the Vigna RACHTL Sauvignon Blanc Riserva its specific character: minerally flint nuances on the nose and salty-minerally on the palate with a clean and fresh acidity.
